What to Expect on Your Hot Air Balloon Ride
Our guests are welcomed at sunrise while the mountain air is calm and stable.
Get “hands-on” by assisting with balloon inflation and launch!
Climb aboard our basket for the flight of a lifetime!
We fly inches over local lakes, snag some souvenir pine cones from the tops of trees, and enjoy a panoramic view of 4 states.
Listen to a history of Pagosa while riding the peaceful breezes with the hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles.
As a team, you’ll assist with deflation, and pack up for our closing ceremony!
You’ll then experience the 200-year-old tradition of a champagne celebration from the earliest days of ballooning in France.
Enjoy snacks and juice while receiving your flight certificate.

Sunset hot air balloon flights stay in the air for about two hours, giving you time to enjoy sweeping mountain views and the changing colors of the evening sky.
Sunset hot air balloon rides are available from December through February, when conditions are ideal for evening flights.
Yes, sunset hot air balloon rides are open to guests of all ages. Families are welcome, although very young children may find the burner sound a bit loud.
If weather conditions aren’t safe—such as strong winds or low visibility—your sunset hot air balloon flight may be canceled. In that case, you’ll be able to reschedule or receive a full refund.
We recommend wearing comfortable layers, as temperatures can cool quickly in the evening. Closed-toe shoes and a camera or phone for photos are also great to bring.
Cameras, video cameras and your sense of adventure!
Many people who experience motion sickness elsewhere, do not in hot air balloons. This is due to the smooth and slow movements matching the wind. There is very little sense of height or motion, only a floating sensation.
We highly recommend eating breakfast and drinking plenty of water prior to flight to help combat any issues. You can read more on Preparing to Fly.
Tipping is not required but a Tip Jar will be out if you would like to contribute. Tips are split between the ground crew.

“Best experience in Pagosa Springs and we went to two hot springs, two outdoor concerts, went shopping downtown and made glass art.
We have been tandem paragliding in the Alps and the hot air balloon ride was right up there with that. We felt completely safe and excited from my 75 year old mother to my 18 year old daughter- we all enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to anyone.
